This was our first time to Bradwall and Sue was so excited that she broke her e string during the St Bernard's Waltz necessitating an unscheduled visit to the dusty end of the fingerboard – good to know that all those music lessons have finally paid off. At least we now know why mandolins have eight string and violins only four – so that they can lend one to the fiddle player when she leaves her spares at home.
There had been showers throughout the day but by the time we left a mysterious autumnal mist had arrived with a beautiful full moon to guide us home.
